Complete were engaged to offsite manufacture the floor, walls and bathroom pod for this new airline lounge. The structure was modularised into approximately 80 components, weighing circa 1.5 tonne each. All components were manufactured in our Airport Oaks manufacturing facility, and transported to the airport using pilot vehicles and wide load transport for 6 night time lifts. The installs were coordinated with a 300 tonne crane and construction team receiving and installing the panels as they were lifted. This is an efficient way of working to ensure we can save onsite construction time. Efficiencies were particularly important for the airport functioning because we had to work around their day-to-day operations. As the site was also based airside, this saved the logistics of getting through security each time we needed to enter the site.
